Don't throw out old, sprouting garlic -- it has heart-healthy antioxidants

Recently, garlic sprouts have been shown to have increased antioxidant activity. The research looked at garlic cloves that had sprouted and concluded that ‘Extracts from garlic sprouted for 5 days had the highest antioxidant activity, whereas extracts from raw garlic had relatively low antioxidant activity.’
